Land

In the desolate high plains of southeast New Mexico, the wooded wilderness of eastern Alberta and the green rolling hills of the Barnett Shale, Devon’s land-use philosophy is the same: to be good stewards of the land. Often, we are able to leave the land in better shape than we found it.

In Canada, we have planted thousands of trees to offset the loss of those needed to build roads. In New Mexico, we reseed land, provide additives to treat soil deficiencies and work with the Bureau of Land Management to control noxious weeds. In numerous locales, we place multiple oil and natural gas wells on a single pad. We look for opportunities throughout North America to improve wildlife habitat and to limit the extent of our impact on the land.

These efforts have drawn accolades from government agencies, conservation groups and industry organizations. While we appreciate that recognition, our actions are driven by a simple core value: be a good neighbor.
