2008 Bureau of Land Management (BLM) National Best Management Practices Award for a Technology-based, Holistic Approach to Oil and Gas Development: Devon has been nationally recognized by the BLM at the National Fluid and Minerals Conference for environmental leadership and creativity in reducing the footprint of oil and natural gas development on public lands in New Mexico. Devon was honored for the use of environmental best management practices, which helps achieve safe, environmentally responsible resource development, by preventing, avoiding, or mitigating adverse environmental or social impacts.

2008 U.S Department of Interior Cooperative Conservation Award: The U.S. Secretary of Interior awarded the Cooperative Conservation Award to the New Mexico Bureau of Land Management and Devon as partner for the "Restore New Mexico" program. The national award was based on the terms of excellent collaboration to restore critical wildlife habitat in southeast New Mexico.

2007 U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) “Restore New Mexico” Award: This state award is given to BLM partners who go above and beyond responsible business and environmental practices to restore and enhance rangelands in New Mexico. Devon was recognized for reclaiming oil and gas field locations built by other operators to restore habitat for the sand dune lizard and lesser prairie chicken. The organization also recognized Devon’s efforts to develop and implement a series of Best Management Practices to minimize or mitigate impacts of oil and gas development, such as interim reclamation once wells are drilled.

2006 Platinum Level Member of CAPP's Stewardship Initiative: Devon's Canadian division currently holds the highest standing in the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Stewardship program as a Platinum Level Member. 2006 GPA President’s Award for Safety Improvement: Devon’s midstream division recently received the President’s Award for Safety Improvement from the Gas Processors Association. The President’s Award recognizes companies that improve their safety performance using past performance as a benchmark. Devon was awarded for achieving a 25 percent or greater reduction in the total recordable incident rates compared to the average of those incident rates from the past three years. Devon was among only a handful of companies to receive the award.

2005 EPA Natural Gas STAR Production Partner of the Year: The Environmental Protection Agency honored Devon for its commitment to promoting clean air through the reduction of methane emissions. The agency recognized the company with its 2005 Natural Gas STAR Production Partner of the Year award, citing Devon’s unprecedented accomplishments in cutting the volume of natural gas emitted from its production operations. Devon captured 5.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas under the program in 2004, which is enough gas to heat more than 70,000 homes for a year. Natural Gas STAR is a voluntary program that includes 23 of the nation’s top 25 natural gas producers.

2005 EPA Best Workplace for Commuters: The Environmental Protection Agency ranked Devon among the top 20 Best Workplaces for Commuters in recognition of the company’s commitment to air quality and reduced traffic congestion. Devon was listed in a tie for 13th with El Paso Corp. and Nike Inc. The EPA cited the company’s commuter benefit programs in Houston, where 70 percent of Devon’s Houston workforce commutes to work by bus or carpool. About 700 people work in Devon’s Houston offices.

2005 IOGCC Chairman’s Stewardship Award: The Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission recognized Devon with its 2005 Chairman’s Stewardship Award for exemplary efforts in conservation and environmental protection. The company was honored for its emission reduction programs and for its habitat preservation work in southern Arizona. Devon has established itself as an industry leader in the voluntary reduction of methane emissions through the Environmental Protection Agency’s Natural Gas STAR program. The commission also recognized Devon for its partnership with the Tucson Audubon Society to restore 300 acres of wildlife habitat along the Santa Cruz River.

2005 Major Reclamation Award: The Alberta Chamber of Resources in Canada recognized Devon with its 2005 Major Reclamation Award for development and promotion of new technology designed to conserve topsoil around well sites. The company was honored for its use of the Roto-Trimmer, a machine designed to remove and salvage topsoil in some of Canada’s most challenging frozen environments. 2004 Industry Reclamation and Wildlife Stewardship Award: The Wyoming Game and Fish Department honored Devon with its 2004 Industry Reclamation and Wildlife Stewardship Award. The company was recognized for its water management and habitat improvement efforts in northeastern Wyoming’s Powder River Basin. Devon used water derived from coalbed natural gas production to improve existing stock ponds and create new ones. The work enhanced vegetation and established watering sites for wildlife as well as habitat for water fowl and fish.

2004 Steward of Excellence: The Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers recognized Devon with its 2004 Steward of Excellence Award in Environmental Performance. The association honored Devon for environmentally–conscious measures taken during the renovation of the company’s Canterra Tower office building in downtown Calgary. Through its energy conservation effort, the company has reduced annual carbon dioxide emissions by 2,800 tons. Devon employs more than 750 people in Calgary.
